What or Where is "ARP cache"
My 1394 LAN connection's "repair" function won't work because of the need to
flush the "ARP cache." The error message says to contact the system
administrator -- that's me. I repeat, where and what is it? How does one
go about "flushing" it?

Thanks,
Jose

Re: What or Where is "ARP cache"
Thanks to you (and John Wunderlich and Madhur Ahuja,) I flushed ARP
successfully. Then I "released the ipconfig" (I have DHCP enabled) and
reconnected the 1394 cable.

Now my problem is that I have a 1394 LAN connection that cycles on and of
repeatedly so that I cannot use it. My attempts to use the "repair"
function all result in "failure to reset the IP configuration.'

I suppose I could have a bad 1394 cable or other hardware problem, but I
doubt it because it worked well very recently. Is this cycling (with
varying intervals of a few seconds) of "connected" and "disconnected" the
symptom of any specific IP configuration problem that you know of? If so,
how can I find out what the problem is and how to resolve it?

Thanks again,
Joe

The exact thing happened with me when I had a wrong connection to the RJ 45
connector.
For crossover cable and for hub connection, there are different colour
settings for the
wires to connect it to the connector. One of the wrong settings causes this
cycling of
connection and disconnection(in about 1 sec).
