Re: Re: Re: Re: Tcp-ip question/problem
Hai Rbenke,
Thanks for your reply. The check box is and was set. That kind of settings I
have checkt.
Look forward, to hear more in case you can help me. I think the setting are
OK, because sometimes I can see internet pages with my WLAn PCMCIA, the next
day when I try to use my PCMCIA, than I see Sedning packets OK but Receivin
g 0 (Zero), after having this error even with my UPT cable, to my network ca
rd, does not work. This means I can not get on Internet or network.

The problems:
1) Intermittently losing network connection.
2) Can't renew IP address ("The operation failed as no adapter is in the sta

The cause:
The problem is that you have a static IP address. You're losing your connect
ion because from time to time your network's DHCP server is assigning YOUR a
ddress to another device (computer, router, etc.). Two systems can't have th
e same IP address on the same network, so one of them gets booted. The serve
r is assigning your address because you have that address statically assigne
d and the server doesn't know it.
You can't release or renew an IP address on a device that has one statically
assigned. You get the error message about "The operation failed because no
network adapter is in the state..." because the NIC isn't in a "state" where
it can accept a DHCP address because it already has one permanatently assig
ned to it.
So, to make a long story short: set your NIC to DHCP (In Windows, that would be "Obtain
an IP address automatically.".
