New computer won't hibernate! (xp home)
I know hibernate uses a lot of system resources, but I find it very
convenient for continuing my work after leaving for a few hours...
My old machine was hibernated all the time without a glitch.
My new one, with significantly more horsepower (P4 HT 3GHz, 1Gb DDR SDRAM,
Intel Bay Field D865GBF motherboard) and running winXPhome svc.pk.1 (vs. XP
pro before) is not able to Hibernate at all.
I get the following message whenever I try and then the hibernate option in
the shutdown menu in task manager becomes disabled so I can't try again...
"Windows - System Error
Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API"
Anyone know what is causing this?
The computer appears to be running very well otherwise, though I did notice
that there are a lot faster motherboards out there (according to a LavaLys
Everest Benchmark Read and Write test).
Could it be a faulty system build?
Could it be hardware?
Thanks very much,
HJ
