Windows XP ipconfig returns nothing...
|

| I am using windows XP SP2. Last night I was trying to use the webcam
with Yahoo messenger that suggested that I am behind the firewall. So I
tried to open up a port on the laptop win xp wire.
After I rebooted the machine I am not able to get IP address. When I
run IPCONFIG in DOS windows. I get one line back.
Windows IP Configuration.
NOTHING else...
Does anyone have any clues?
Thanks for the help.

This sounds like either you're using DHCP with your service provider and you
didn't get a DHCP lease, just try cold booting again. That, or your driver
doesn't report its' IP address in the IPCONFIG program for some reason,
which I've seen before with some network drivers.
Since you were attaching a webcam to your machine, sounds like you were
moving cables, as well - reseat the Ethernet cable into the network port
on your machine and make sure it didn't move on you. ;)

| Are you running Norton Internet Security? If so you have my sympathies. Turn
it off and you'll get ipconfig to work.
