I have a bunch of DVD-A discs, and they all play fine. I just got "On
The Beach" by Neil Young on DVD-A. It won't play on my Pioneer DVD
player BUT will play on my 3 MacIntosh computers!!
Anyone got any ideas why this won't play on this machine? I've got 3
more Young DVD-A discs coming and now I'm a little concerned.

Thanks,
Lee

DId you have the firmware updated? Its free if you send it, or take it in
to an authorized service center...I *believe* teh last firmware was
1.906...The Neil Young DVD-A's were some of the 1st discovered that didnt
work prompting Pioneer to provide teh upgrade. It is NOT available anywhere
on teh web that I have ever been able to find, if that saves you some time
looking...

I wonder if all Neil's early DVD-A's do that on a Pioneer? "On The
Beach" is the one I got, but I've got 3 others coming in the mail.
Funny thing, the timer works just like it's reading/playing the disc
and the menu shows up too, but no sound.

What firmware is your player running? I asked b4 but you didnt acknowledge.

If you dont know how to check it:

WIth no disk in the drive or player stopped,
home menu-initial settings-options-scroll to options, then hit display, it
will show in the grey area...

Then it needs teh upgrade. It shouldnt be able to play the hi-res surround
mix on Greendale either if its only at 1.706...1.906 was the newer one, dont
know if there are any newer than that...

Weird. "Greendale" sounds great. I'm perplexed, I'll call Pioneer
Tuesday. Any other Young DVD-A's that are supposed to be trouble?
Thanks,

Been trying to call Pioneer all day- busy signal. I cancelled the 3
DVD-A's I got coming by Neil Young til I can find out if they're gonna
play or not. I'm NOT buying a new DVD player to play 3 discs by one
artist!! :)

Why would you cancel them since you know that you will the player updated?

I plan to upgrade the player if I can. If I can, then I'll just
re-order them.
