purchase tablet edition

| Hi
Is there any way to buy xp tablet edition online. I have damaged my
original disks and cannot get a replacement from the manufacturer

| Have you tried calling Microsoft? They will replace damaged discs. You won't
have the oiginally installed extras, though.

| You need to work through the manufacturer. Microsoft will not replace OEM
recovery media, because that is the property of the OEM with their specific
setup, drivers, etc. Contact the manufacturer's support section and if the
first person you speak to cannot resolve the issue, ask to speak to a
supervisor. They should be able to replace damaged recovery media for a
small shipping and handling fee.

| I have not tried this, but if you're desperate, try this:
If you have access to a copy of Windows XP Professional (not sure if Home
Edition will suffice), slipstream it with SP2 (search on Google for Windows
XP SP2 Slipstream) and create your own boot disc. Then go to
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pr...y/oempreac.mspx
and follow the prompts...
It *should* recognize you have an OEM version of the tablet OS...

| The replacement for a Tablet PC, as I posted earlier, should come from the
OEM itself. For a small fee (usually shipping and handling) a registered
Tablet PC owner should be able to obtain the proper recovery/replacement
software for their machine.

| This method is intended for OEM use only, since they have the Tablet PC
available to them. It is not a source of making one's own boot/recovery
CDs. Slipstreaming XP Pro in the process will result in XP Pro only, not a
Tablet PC recovery system.

| Did you mean OEM as in manufacturers or as in users?
I agree it's not an official form of recovery solution but I suppose the
website indicated they are "steps licensed end users can take to preserve
OEM pre-activation when reinstalling the operating system".
By the way, in my expereince I found slipstreaming SP2 on the original WinXP
disc resulted in an additional CMPNENTS folders which included the Tablet PC
and Media Center bits, and I found it to be an excellent way to get rid of
all the "junk" bits OEM tend to force users to put up with, so a clean
install is now finally possible (of course using the proper key on the
website). And yes, the slipstream gives only Pro when the Pro key is
entered, and interestingly, on a Tablet PC, if you enter the Media Center
key, it will recognize it as invalid, but say on a Media Center PC, it'll
work. I suppose they have some form of PC detection mechanism to allow this
magic to happen.
Just my thoughts anyway : )

| Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), not regular users, specifically in
use regarding pre-activation of software.
