Hi all,

I have a Dell 2000fp display - it's been working flawlessly for two and
a half years, at it's regulation 1600x1200 pixel rate. Last week I
bought a KVM switch that handles DVI signals, so I set the monitor up
with a couple of computers which had previously worked fine connected
separately to the monitor, and turned them on. But now both computers
suddenly think the monitor has a max resolution of 1024x768 pixels.
I've disconnected the KVM switch, just connecting one of the computers
directly to the monitor, just as it used to be, and it still reports
that the monitor has a max res of 1024x768.

It gets stranger. The on-screen display (OSD) on the monitor also
claims now that it's a 1024x768 pixel display (!!) and the video driver
config software on both computers (one is Nvidia's latest, the other
the latest ATI Calalyst) now report the monitor is some obselete
Viewsonic model (VX500 or something - sorry, I'm at work now and don't
have it on fornt of me). It's as though somehow some internal settings
in the monitor have been altered or reset, though it's bizarre that
somehow connecting to the KVM switch could have done that. Applying the
"factory Reset" option on the monitors OSD does not fix the problem.

Does anyone know how I can reset the monitor to its original settings,
or have any other constructive advice? I'd like to hear it. I've tried
updating video drivers etc, but it hasn't made a difference. (By the
way, I have a second 2000fp and both computers report correct settings
with it, so I'm positive that the first monitor has been damaged in
some way.) Otherwise my monitor is pretty well useless...

Thanks,

-p
