OT--- question on charging NIMH batteries
|
|
|
| OK --- totally OT but you guys seem to know a lot about this stuff
anyway...SO:
We use NIMH batteries in our Canon A75 digital camera. They work fine and I
normally recharge them when they are just about out of charge.
But, we are going on vacation soon. I would guess that the current batteries
are maybe half-charged. Can I just charge them up now, or would this shorten
the ultimate battery life?

You can safely charge a NiMH battery at any point. Also, with NiMH
batteries, they start to lose capacity when they sit around for a period
of time. So, I generally suggest charging them right before you need
them, rather than just charging them when they die and leaving them on
the shelf for 2 weeks before you need them.
I'm also a Radio Control car guy, hence I have a lot of experience with
rechargeable batteries.
