I was given an Acer Aspire 1353XC as an insurance replacement for an
old Compaq Contura that got damaged. I didn't get much choice in the
matter only to 'upgrade' to a DVD/CDRW.

I seemed to have a problem (no DHCP on the built-in ethernet port but
ok on PCMCIA or USB ethernet using same cable,
router etc) and after a chat with Acer C/S went back to be checked
(they arranged free collection). It was returned fairly quickly but
with the same 'problem' but it eventually transpired to be a 'conflict
/ issue' between the Acer DHCP client and the D-Link Di-704 DHCP
server.

I did try to follow it up with Acer but never had my call or email
returned .. ;-(

The actual machine seems fine (so far) and has some good stuff on it
for the money (4 x USB2, Firewire etc)

All the best ..
